Well, we have arrived on the first leg of our trip. We have had a good flight and just checked into our hostel- a bit cramped but we can manage three days. We've already experienced the New York subway, not as scary as we thought, it's just like the tube, but a bit grubbier!
It still hasn't sunk in yet that we won't be getting any home comforts for the next 10 months. Maybe tomorrow morning when we have to wake up with a bunch of strangers and shower in public, it will become a little more real!
Well we must go and explore the big apple. Will keep you posted...
